Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD)

What it is, and how to measure it

What is Pitch Circle Diameter?

The term PCD (pitch circle diameter) is often used when specifying the correct wheel trims or wheel nut safety products to fit a certain spacing of wheel nuts.

The pitch circle diameter is simply the distance in mm from the centre of any one wheel nut across the middle of the wheel to the centre of the opposite wheel nut.

The PCD measurement is NOT the space between the nuts.

How can I calculate it easily?

We've built some handy calculators to make your life that little bit easier. Simply insert the correct measurements below, and you'll find your answer!

Use the boxes on this page to calculate the Pitch Circle Diameter or the Nut to Nut Dimensions of your wheels.

1. Calculate PCD from Nut to Nut Dimensions

First enter the number of wheel studs and then the distance from one nut to the adjacent one to the nearest 0.5mm. The resultant figure is the PCD to the nearest mm.

2. Calculate Nut to Nut Dimension

First enter the number of wheel studs and then the PCD.  The resultant figure is the distance between adjacent nuts to the nearest millimetre.
